Beautiful Kashmir

Attractions: The Kenyan Safari begins in Nairobi with the Karen Blixen Museum, the former home of the famous novelist. Witness beautiful beads being made by hand at the Kazuri bead factory followed by a visit to the Giraffe Centre, where you can feed giraffes, including the rare Rothschild giraffe.

Mount Kenya Safari Club, at the foot of Mt Kenya, offers facilities for a round of golf or tennis, horse riding and a heated swimming pool. Catch some wild-game drama on drives to the picturesque Lake Nakuru National Park, the Masai Mara National Game Reserve.

A hot-air balloon ride across the Masai Mara at 1,500 ft altitude gives you an aerial view of the Mara River, the savannah grasslands and great herds of wildebeests, zebras and gazelles. You may even chance upon a pride feeding together or a leopard snoozing on a tree branch.

Swiss Grandeur

Deal: €564 a person

Seven days, six nights;

Visit to Lucerne, Interlaken and Zurich;

Fare includes accommodation with breakfast, mountain excursions and travel unlimited on a five-day Swiss-flexi pass second-class

Attractions: Swiss Alps, crystal blue lakes, picturesque medieval villages and delicious chocolates and cheese. A favourite with honeymooners, it is also an ideal family destination.

For the more adventurous, the choice ranges from hiking and mountain sports to cycling. The Alpine tour to Jungfraujoch — Top of Europe at 3,454 metres — begins at Lauterbrunnen aboard the cogwheel train. Itinerary includes the Ice Palace and the Sphinx Observation Terrace overlooking the Aletsch glacier (Europe’s longest), cable car excursion to Schilthorn, which affords a spectacular 360 degree panoramic view of 200 mountain peaks, and the James Bond trail in the Touristorama.

At Engelberg, the world’s first revolving cable car ascends Mount Titlis, the highest lookout-point in central Switzerland. For wellness freaks, there is a choice of world famous health resorts — the Graubünden resorts of Arosa, Davos, Klosters and St Moritz, and Interlaken. Glacier 3000, near Geneva, offers spectacular views of the Alps. The Alpine Coaster, the world’s highest bobsleigh track, promises a wild ride.
