Life - Internet
Virtual entrepreneurs

Starting every Monday at 9 p.m. from September 8, DiscoverY Channel will feature Download: The true Internet Story, a four-part series which traces the Web’s rise from obscurity to global ubiquity.

Be it the dominance of the Internet Explorer or the rise of Microsoft to a global giant, the series traces the expanse of the Internet and its impact on our lives. The bitter battle between Netscape and Bill Gates to the omnipresence of Google and the advent of e-commerce sites such as ebay and Amazon form the crux of this series.

Discovery Channel has skulked around the behind-the-scenes in Silicon Valley, delving into the doings and meetings of leaders of a new generation of companies like YouTube, MySpace and Facebook. The four series include the browser war, the search war, the e-commerce revolution, and the emerging people power.

The programme will be hosted by technology-journalist John Heileman.
