Life - Shopping
City lights

Tired of jostling with the rush-hour traffic to get your shopping done? And with several shops downing shutters on Sunday, weekend shopping may be leisurely but leaves you with less choice. So then, how about a mid-week bout of shopping, far from the madding traffic? That’s the idea on offer at the Select Citywalk shopping plaza in Saket, Delhi, where a flea market will stay open every Wednesday from 4-11 p.m. The ‘Flea @ Nite’ market is meant to entice families to shop and enjoy the outdoors at these delightfully odd hours.

Besides the shopping there’s live music, grills and gelatos, juice and mocktail bars, cafes and street art to be savoured. Besides jewellery, home linen and apparel, on sale are toys, books, antiques, fruits and vegetables, flowers, sports goods, furniture, pet foods, auto accessories, and fresh breads and delicatessen.

Dilliwallahs who wished they could take back a slice of the delectable fare at Birdy’s in Mumbai now have two whole outlets. Famous for its scrumptious pastries, cakes, sandwiches and other baked delights, the Mumbai chain opened an outlet at Greater Kailash-2 barely a week after the one at Mukherji Nagar in North Delhi. In Mumbai, Birdy’s has 18 outlets and positions itself as a “neighbourhood hangout” with offerings such as stuffed wholesome breads, European-style chocolates, premium gateaux and teatime specials.
