Joint programme

Gurgaon-based Management Development Institute (MDI) recently signed a memorandum of understanding with French management school ESCP-EAP to jointly offer a post-graduate diploma in business management. The programme will offer international courses on business finance and marketing, and an understanding of the global business environment. The 16-month programme is divided into three phases. In the first phase, students will study at MDI for six months. In phase two, students can join ESCP-EAP in Paris, London or Turin for another six months. In the last phase, students can pursue paid internship in Europe for four months. Graduates with minimum 55 per cent marks from a recognised university or institute can apply. Selection will be based on CAT/GMAT score, group discussion and personal interview. The cost of the programme, including tuition fees and lodging, is around Euro 12, 600.

New course

XLRI Jamshedpur has started a two-year, full-time programme in business management. On completing the course, candidates will be conferred a post-graduate diploma in business management. The curriculum is said to lay the foundation for "a conceptual and analytical understanding of Indian and international business." XLRI's programme is designed to integrate current management theory and practice. The course, according to the institute, "fosters attitudes essential for the growth of students into competent, responsible managers." It has an evolving programme content and is updated to be in tune with emerging trends.

The new course is in addition to the programme in personnel management and industrial relations that XLRI already offers.

Placement time

It is time for the final push at Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIM-A) as the placement week kicks off on March 8. With final exams behind them, second year students of the post-graduate programme at IIM-A are bracing up for days that will determine their immediate future. The placement week will start with `Day Zero' on March 8 and last for six days. "Several investment banks and consulting firms have confirmed their participation on Day Zero," according to the IIM-A placement committee spokesperson.
