I do not believe any of us would dispute the fact that the markets are evolving at rates we’ve never seen before. And, our organisations are faced with re-strategising to meet the rapidly changing market dynamics. In fact, more often than not, the rate of change is much more than organisations’ ability to deal with that change. There is a high probability that what we produce today will be copied or improved upon by competition in a few months. We must move quicker. Innovation can come from anywhere and is no longer restricted to traditional power bases. In order to succeed in such a scenario it is necessary for a leader to have a clear vision, sound strategy and execution abilities to realise the vision and strong alignment of organisational resources. Vision: It is important for a leader to create understanding on where he wants his organisation to be and its relevance to the future. All the stakeholders should have a clear idea of where a leader is leading them, and they need to un derstand why that goal is valuable to them. Aspirational vision has a great possibility of emotionally connecting its people towards the organisational goal. Strategy and execution: It is equally important for a leader to clearly articulate what the organisational strategy is to reach there. Strategy is all about making certain strategic decisions based on organisational intelligence and co re competencies. In short, to succeed in an era of globalisation where the world is flat, leaders with aspirational vision backed by the ability to align organisational resources have greater chances of demonstrating success and taking their organisation on a growth trajectory.
