The New Manager
-
Events Focus on the bottom of the pyramid The Bottom of the Pyramid (BOP) was the theme of the recent two-day management students’ convention organised in Chennai by the Madras Management Association (MMA). The challenges faced by organisations in providing services and products to the BOP, marketing to them and empowering them were some of the issues taken up by speakers at the convention, which drew more than 1,000 management students, making it one of the largest student conventions to be organised in the country. S. Gopal, President, MMA, outlined the importance of the bottom of the pyramid and its significance to the future manager. K.S. Ramesh, Chairman, Centre for Continuing Education, MMA, said that the Bottom of the Pyramid debate was introduced for the first time in the convention with the objective of providing a platform for students to showcase their communication skills. The convention provided the students an opportunity to mingle with practicing leaders in the industry. The convention included special sessions on ‘Creative Thinking’ by Shiva Subramanian, TCS; ‘Career Design and Entrepreneurship’ by Pandia Rajan, Ma Foi Management Consultants; and ‘Winning competencies for Managerial Success’ by Desikamani of Mentor Learning. — Our Bureau More Stories on : Events | Management | Education
