Eight new companies, including Lupin, Bharti Infratel, Eicher Motors and Bharat Forge, will be added to the MSCI India Index from tomorrow, while Reliance Infrastructure will be removed.
The other companies which would be added to the index are Container Corp of India, Marico, Shree Cement and UPL.
The changes would come into effect from tomorrow.
Global indexing and analytics giant MSCI Inc has indices for key markets, along with certain global, regional and theme-based indices. There are, at present, 64 stocks in MSCI India index, including Infosys, HDFC, TCS, RIL, Sun Pharma and ITC.
Shares of Bharti Infratel fell 2.40 per cent, Bharat Forge lost 2.06 per cent and Eicher Motors was trading 1.98 per cent lower on the BSE.
Shree Cement was quoting 3.79 per cent lower, UPL was down 2.79 per cent and Container Corp slipped 2.51 per cent on the BSE.
Lupin, too, was trading with 0.56 per cent losses.
Shares of Reliance Infra declined by 2.42 per cent ahead of its exclusion from the index.
Marico, however, was trading up 0.18 per cent.
