Bajaj Auto on Thursday said, its promoters, Mr Rahul Bajaj and his wife Ms Ruparani Bajaj have sold 3.65 lakh shares for about Rs 56 crore, while their children Mr Sanjiv Bajaj and Ms Sunaina Kejriwal have purchased the company’s shares.

Ms Sunaina Kejriwal bought 1.45 lakh shares, while a similar amount of shares, representing a 0.05 per cent stake in the company, have been sold by Mr Rahul Bajaj, the auto firm said in a filing to the BSE.

Mr Sanjiv Bajaj bought 2.20 lakh shares, representing 0.08 per cent stake, while an equal number of shares were sold by his mother Ms Ruparani Bajaj.

While Ms Sunaina’s purchase value for the shares was about Rs 22.21 crore, that of Sanjiv was Rs 33.7 crore. All these transactions took place on September 23 and were intimated to the company on September 27, the company said.

Earlier this week also, the company had disclosed sale of 5.6 lakh shares by Mr Rahul Bajaj to his other son Mr Rajiv Bajaj in a deal worth Rs 86 crore in an open market transaction.

At the end of June quarter, Mr Rajiv Bajaj in his personal capacity held 6,100 shares in Bajaj Auto, while Mr Sanjiv Bajaj held 1,25,448 shares or 0.04 per cent stake in his name in the auto firm.

The 62-year-old Mr Rahul Bajaj held 39,04,904 shares in his name, representing a stake of 1.35 per cent in the auto firm at the end of June quarter.

The Bajaj Senior had stepped down as the managing director of the firm after the expiry of his term, passing the baton to his elder son Mr Rajiv.

Shares of Bajaj Auto closed at Rs 1,538.60 on BSE, up 1.81 per cent from its previous close.
