Prices of turmeric stayed flat on the spot, while rising on the futures market. “Only 200 bags of local hybrid turmeric arrived for sale and all the hybrid varieties were sold. Some traders have received upcountry orders and they procured,” said RKV Ravishankar, President, Erode Turmeric Merchants Association. Of the 4,300 bags arrived, buyers procured 65 per cent stocks for their immediate use. The price of the turmeric was up ₹50 a quintal in the futures but on the spot there was no increase in the price. At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association, the finger variety was sold at ₹7,509-9,311 a quintal; the root variety ₹7,363-8,255. Of the arrival of 1,066 bags, 435 were sold.
