As much as 94 per cent of 9.57 lakh kg offered for Sale No: 49 of Coonoor Tea Trade Association was sold despite the average price remaining at nine-month high level of ₹104.66 a kg, up from previous week’s ₹102.74 due to increased demand from upcountrybuyers.
Homedale Estate’s Pekoe Dust, auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, topped the Dust grade and the entire CTC market when Antony Tea Traders bought it for ₹221 per kg. Homedale Estate’s Red Dust and Homedale Estate’s Super Red Dust, both auctioned by Global Tea Brokers, followed at ₹216 and ₹211 respectively. Vigneshwar Speciality’s RedDust, auctioned by Paramount Tea Marketing, also got `211.
In the CTC Leaf tea auction, Darmona Estate’s Broken Orange Pekoe Small toppedat₹201. In the orthodox market, Chamraj topped at ₹240 a kg, followed by Havukal ₹235, Kairbetta ₹231 and Kodanad₹226. Most buyers for Pakistan weresilent.
