Groundnut oil hardened on the oil and oilseeds market on Saturday on persistent demand from stockists as well as exporters on the back of restricted arrivals from producing regions. Refined palmolein also strengthened on heavy consumer demand.

Castorseed bold and castorseed commercial both slipped further due to lack of demand from shippers and soap industries.

Castorseed futures also eased on lack of export demand.

Groundnut oil surged by Rs 10 for 10 kg to Rs 995 and refined palmolein went up by Rs 8 for 10 kg to Rs 592.

Castorseed bold declined by Rs 35 for 100 kg to Rs 3,965 and castor oil commercial went down by Rs 7 for 10 kg to Rs 823. Linseed oil remained unaltered at Rs 825 for 10 kg.

Castorseed for March delivery resumed lower at Rs 3,635 and moved in the range of Rs 3,647 and Rs 3,620 and settled at Rs 3,639, a modest loss of Rs 6 a tonne.

Grains remain steady

New Delhi: Steady conditions prevailed in the wholesale grains market on Saturday with wheat, rice and other commodities, after moving in a tight range, settled at the previous levels.

Urad and urad chilka (local) shed Rs 20 each at Rs 3,380-3,880 and Rs 4,480-4,780 a quintal respectively.
