Weak demand and availability of imported masoor have dragged masoor prices in the past one week by almost Rs 125-150 a quintal.

Masoor (bold) prices in Indore mandis on Friday ruled at Rs 3,650-3,700 amid weak buying support from millers. Similarly, masoor (medium) slipped to Rs 3,450.

Besides heavy rain in Madhya Pradesh, large quantities of imported masoor from Canada have also added to the bearish sentiment.

Last month, masoor prices zoomed to Rs 4,100.However, a major fall in masoor prices appears unlikely given the stock situation in Indore mandis and rise in demand, said a trader here.

Masoor dal (average)quoted at Rs 4,100-4,125; masoor dal (medium) at Rs 4,200-4,225; masoor dal (bold) ruled at Rs 4,300-4,325.

Urad also witnessed downtrend on weak demand and fall in prices of imported urad. In local mandis, urad (best quality) prices fell to Rs 3,750-75, while urad (medium) ruled at Rs 3,000-3,200. Urad dal prices also plunged by Rs 100 in local mandis on slack demand; urad dal (medium) at Rs 4,300-4,400, urad dal (bold) at Rs 5,100-5,200, while urad mongar ruled at Rs 6,000-6,300.
