Tracking a firm global trend, crude oil prices rose Rs 20 to Rs 5,037 per barrel at the futures trade today as speculators created fresh positions.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in October rose Rs 20 or 0.4 per cent to Rs 5,037 per barrel with a business turnover of Rs 23,231 lots.

Similarly, the oil for delivery in November traded higher by the same margin to Rs 5,067 per barrel in 1,810 lots.

Market analysts attributed the rise in crude oil futures to a firm global trend.

Meanwhile, crude oil for November delivery advanced 81 cents to $93.23 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
