Cotton prices gained on the back of fresh demand from domestic mills. Moreover, rise in international rates also supported upmove. Traders said that prices may continue to increase in coming days as export demand is likely to emerge at current price.
Gujarat Sankar-6 cotton traded higher by ₹200 at ₹30,500-800 a candy of 356 kg. About 45,000 bales (of 170 kg) arrived in Gujarat and 1.75 lakh bales arrived in India. Kapas or raw cotton too increased as buying from ginners improved. Kapas gained ₹5-7 to ₹780-810 for a maund of 20 kg in Gujarat and gin delivery kapas was quoted at ₹810-820.
