Cotton prices moved down on the back of poor demand from cotton yarn mills. Moreover, market is waiting for some quality arrivals. Kapas or raw cotton too decreased as demand from ginners was weak. Gujarat Sankar-6 best quality cotton lost ₹500 to ₹35,000-36,000 a candy of 356 kg. Average grade cotton was traded at ₹33,000-34,000 and lower grade cotton at ₹30,000-32,000. About 6,000 bales of 170 kg each of cotton arrived in Gujarat and 12,000-14,000 bales arrived in India on Monday. Traders said that price of cotton may decline further in this week as there is no hope for fresh demand. Kapas decreased by ₹15-20 to ₹825-900 for a maund of 20 kg in Saurashtra and Gujarat. Gin delivery kapas was traded at ₹870-880.
