Cotton prices declined as overall demand was dull on Friday. Kapas or raw cotton was also down as demand from ginners was very slow. According to market sources, cotton lost almost ₹1,000 a candy (of 356 kg) in current week. Traders said that huge inventory and poor demand have pulled down prices this season. Gujarat Sankar-6 cotton was down ₹200-300 at ₹29,800-30,200 per candy. About 45,000 bales (of 170 kg) arrived in Gujarat and 1.80 lakh bales across the country. Prices ruled at ₹30,000-31,000 per candy in Maharashtra and ₹30,500-31,000 a candy in South India. Kapas lost ₹10 to ₹770-790 for a maund of 20 kg and gin delivery kapas at ₹790-795. Cottonseed ruled flat at ₹355-367.
