Crude oil futures prices today eased 0.38 per cent to Rs 3,960 per barrel largely in tandem with a weak trend in Asian trade.
Trading sentiment turned weak at the futures trade after oil prices fell in Asia as dealers fretted over a lower-than-expected drop in US crude production that dimmed hopes of a quick end to a global supply glut, analysts said.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in June shed Rs 15 or 0.38 per cent to Rs 3,960 per barrel in 92 lots.
The oil for May delivery moved down by Rs 14 or 0.36 per cent to Rs 3,868 per barrel in a volume of 1,691 lots.
Meanwhile, West Texas Intermediate crude oil for June delivery was down 58 cents at $60.35, while Brent crude eased 56 cents $67.21 a barrel, in mid-morning trade on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
