Crude oil futures prices rose 0.32 per cent to Rs 6,025 per barrel today as speculators created positions amid a firm trend in Asia.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in May gained Rs 19 or 0.32 per cent to Rs 6,025 per barrel with a business turnover of 1,165 lots.
Similarly, the oil for June delivery moved up by Rs 16 or 0.27 per cent to Rs 6,010 per barrel with a business volume of 95 lots.
Marketmen said the rise in crude oil futures was largely in tandem with a firm trend in Asian trade ahead of the US Department of Energy’s crude stockpiles report and a testimony in Congress by Federal Reserve chief Janet Yellen.
Meanwhile, West Texas Intermediate crude prices for June delivery advanced by 55 cents to $100.05 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
