A declining price trend continues to witness Kochi auctions with select best varieties barely remained steady. However, the decline in prices was less for plainer varieties.

In sale no 49, the quantity on offer in CTC dust was 10,53,000 kg, showing an increase compared to last week. Leading blenders were active on good liquoring varieties, while exporters operated with price limit.

According to auctioneers Forbes, Ewart & Figgis, there was only a fair demand in orthodox grades and the market tended to ease. The arrivals were also low compared to last week at 9,500 kg. Exporters and upcountry buyers absorbed a small quantity.

In leaf, the quantity on offer in orthodox grades was 228,500 kg and the market for good liquoring Nilgiri brokens, whole leaf barely remained steady. There was a fair demand from exporters to CIS countries, but subdued to other destinations.

In CTC leaf, the quantity on offer was 54,500 kg and the market for brokens and Fannings was firm to dearer by ₹2 to ₹3.

In dust grades, Sholayar SFD quoted the best prices of ₹140 followed by Kallyar SFD at ₹139. Chamraj FOP-S (Green Tea) came to the top in leaf varieties quoting ₹310 followed by P’s Woodlands Hyson (green tea) at ₹267.
