The arrival of new turmeric increased to the spot markets at Erode. “Buyers are showing interest in the new crop and 700 bags of new crop arrived for sale and were sold at a higher price,” said RKV Ravishankar, President, Erode Turmeric Merchants Association.
He said 5,300 bags of turmeric arrived and 70 per cent of the stocks were sold. Most quantity was procured by the traders and the stockists have purchased little quantity.
At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association, the finger turmeric was sold at ₹7,750-9,899 a quintal and the root variety ₹7,829-9,099. Of the arrival of 2,450 bags, 1,950 were traded.
