Sentiment in edible oils remained positive tracking firm futures amid improved physical demand. On the Bombay Commodity Exchange, prices for major oils ruled steady despite higher demand. A broker said, “The market witnessed a volume of over 2,000-2,200 tonnes after a long time as stockists came forward with fresh orders. Ruchi and Liberty are said to have sold about 500 and 1,500 tonnes at ₹498 and ₹502 for 10 kg each respectively. Maharashtra’s producers have signed contracts for 100-150 tonnes of soyabean refined and cotton refined oil in isolated activities. Fear about the lower crops is supporting the market.

Liberty was quoting palmolein for ₹501-503, super palmolein ₹527 and soyabean refined oil ₹590. Ruchi traded palmolein at ₹498, soyabean refined oil ₹585 and sunflower refined oil ₹645. Allana’s rates were: palmolein ₹503 and super palmolein ₹535, soyabean refined oil ₹600 and sunflower oil ₹645. In Saurashtra-Rajkot, groundnut oil Telia tin was up at ₹1,280 (1,270) and loose (10 kg) at ₹820 (815).
