Jeera prices declined marginally in spot on weak export as well as domestic demand. On the National Commodity and Derivative Exchange (NCDEX) jeera September contract dropped by ₹65 to ₹17,750 a quintal, with an open interest of 7,572 lots. NCDEX October contract declined by ₹50 to ₹17,880 per quintal, with an open interest of 17,862 lots. At the Unjha mandi of Gujarat jeera traded slightly down by ₹15 to ₹3,160-3,660 per 20 kg. At Rajkot APMC, jeera arrival was reported to be at 350 bags and price decreased by ₹10 to ₹3,200-3,600 per 20 kg. India exported jeera worth ₹68,891 lakh with total quantity of 44,023 tonnes in the first three months (Apr-Jun) of 2016-17. The export volume is higher by 71.7 per cent compared to last year data for the same period.
