Pepper prices witnessed a sluggish trend on Monday on limited demand and supply. Upcountry demand continued to remain slack due to unfavourable climatic conditions and supply of imported material.
However, the demand is expected to pick up after the Ganesh Chathurthi, market sources told Business Line . On the IPSTA platform 24 tonnes were traded in day trading and the prices remained unchanged for all active contracts. Spot prices stayed steady.
Export prices also were steady at $12,450 a tonne cf for Europe and $12,700 for the US and remained out priced.
