Sugar prices showed a mixed trend on Vashi market on Thursday with routine demand-supply. Prices of S-grade declined by ₹26 at the lower end and improved by ₹18 at the higher end. M-grade gained ₹20 at the lower end while it was steady at the higher end. Naka and mill tender rates remained unchanged for the second consecutive day. Sources said that need-based local retail demand and lack of upcountry demand kept supply ample in local market. As producers are continuously selling the commodity there is no shortage. Dispatches for export market are also lacking since long. Vashi market also carries enough stocks keeping stockists away from building inventories.

Arrivals at Vashi market continued to be around 62-63 truck loads (of 100 bags each) and the local dispatches were 61-62 truck loads. On Wednesday evening, about 17-18 mills offered tenders and sold 44,000-45,000 bags at ₹2,970-3,130 (₹2,970-3,130) for S-grade and ₹3,120-3,280 (₹3,120-3,280) for M-grade.

Bombay Sugar Merchants Association’s spot rates: S-grade ₹3,176-3,290 (₹3,202-3,272) and M-grade ₹3,312-3,472 (₹3,292-3,472). Naka delivery rates: S-grade ₹3,100-3,160 (₹3,100-3,160) and M-grade ₹3,200-3,350 (₹3,200-3,350).
