Sugar prices on the Vashi wholesale market were mixed. It declined by ₹10 a quintal for S-grade, while for M-grade it increased by ₹10 a quintal on higher demand for bold variety ahead of Ramzan. Naka prices were higher by ₹10-15 on hopes of higher demand. Mill tender rates were steady with volume being routine on Saturday evening. The undercurrent of the market was positive, said sources.

Sources said that local offtake was at a par with arrivals as stockists bought for fresh stocks ahead of festivals. Vashi traders are optimistic about positive trend in the coming days as host of festivals are in line and the demand will be higher in those days.

Arrivals were at 62-63 truckloads and local dispatches were 60-61 loads. On Saturday, 16-17 mills offered tenders and sold 55,000-58,000 bags at ₹2,930-3,010 (₹2,930-3,010) for S-grade and ₹3,050-3,170 (₹3,050-3,170) for M-grade.

The Bombay Sugar Merchants Association’s spot rates: S-grade ₹3,100-3,205 (₹3,090-3,215) and M-grade ₹3,212-3,382 (₹3,212-3,382).

Naka delivery rates: S-grade ₹3,050-3,160 (₹3,040-3,150) and M-grade ₹3,150- 3,280 (₹3,140-3,275).
