Prices for M-grade sugar declined by ₹12 a quintal, while they ruled steady for the S-grade on the Vashi wholesale spot market on need-based volumes. Naka and mill tender prices were unchanged except for old stocks which were sold at ₹2-5 lower. Sources said as supply from mills continues to be ample and enough stocks in the hands of trader, activities remained limited. Freight rates were steady. Arrivals were at 60-61 truckloads and local dispatches were 58-60 loads. On Wednesday, about 20-22 mills offered tenders and sold about 35,000-36,000 bags at ₹2,440-2,580 (₹2,445-2,590) for S-grade and ₹2,570-2,750 (₹2,570-2,750) for M-grade.
The Bombay Sugar Merchants Association’s spot rates: S-grade ₹2,630-2,750 (₹2,630-2,750) and M-grade ₹2,712-2,922 (₹2,720-2,922). Naka delivery rates: S-grade ₹2,565-2,665 (₹2,565-2,665) and M-grade ₹2,665-2,815 (₹2,665-2,815).
