Improved buying at lower rates lifted chana prices marginally with the kanta variety quoting at ₹2,925-50 a quintal on Tuesday, while the desi one ruled at ₹2,650-2,700 and Kabuli Bitki at ₹2,825-2,900. According to Sanjay Agrawal, a wholesale chana trader, with domestic stock declining steadily and imports turning costlier, chana may see an uptrend as demand increases in view of the approaching festival season.
Chana dal ruled firm with chana dal (average) ruling at ₹3,100-3,200 (down ₹200 from last week), chana dal (medium) at ₹3,300-3,400, while chana dal (bold) ruled at ₹3,600-3,800.
Dollar chana prices in the past one week gained ₹300 with prices in local mandis quoting at ₹4,500-5,500 amid arrival of 1,700-1,800 bags in local mandis. In the container trade, slack export demand dragged prices by about ₹200 in the past one week with dollar chana (42/44 count) at ₹5,775-5,800, 44/46 count ₹5,575-6,600, 58/60 count ₹4,600-25, while 60/62 count was quoted at ₹4,500-25.
