Pepper prices continued to remain steady on Thursday as demand matched supply. Domestic buyers were staying back fearing the release of about 75 per cent of the tainted pepper. Slowdown in domestic buying has resulted in an increase in the arrivals at the terminal market, traders said. On the spot, 50 tonnes of pepper arrived and of this 32 tonnes were from Kodagu region. Spot prices remained unchanged at ₹60,000 (ungarbled) and ₹63,000 (garbled) a quintal. Active contracts on the IPSTA also stayed steady. Export prices inched up to $10,250 a tonne c&f Europe and $10,500 for the US.
