Pepper prices turned hot on Friday on both the spot and futures markets on good demand amid tight availability. There were no sellers forthcoming and, consequently, the arrival today stood at four tonnes only. On the IPSTA platform, December and January contracts moved up by ₹700 and ₹464 a quintal respectively to ₹69,000 and ₹63964. Spot prices increased by ₹500 to ₹69,300 (ungarbled) and ₹72,300 (garbled). Export prices were at $12,000 a tonne cf for Europe and $12,450 for the US.
