The pepper markets fell on slack demand as Vietnam pepper imported via Sri Lanka was being offered at ₹490 a kg , market sources told Business Line . On the terminal market, only eight tonnes from the high ranges were traded at ₹500 a kg.
Pulpally and Bathery pepper were traded at ₹495 a kg. Spot pepper dropped further by ₹200 a quintal to close at ₹49,400 (ungarbled) and ₹51,400 (garbled) a quintal. Indian export prices were at $8,175 a tonne c&f for Europe and $8,425 a tonne c&f for the US.
