Spot pepper prices were up on Thursday on tight availability. Inter-state dealers from Tamil Nadu were covering briskly from the primary markets at terminal market prices. Meanwhile, Wayanad-based dealers were buying from Southern districts and selling to exporters at ₹610 a kg. Sellers are reportedly holding back following the continuous price decline, market sources told BusinessLine. On the IPSTA platform, February and March contracts moved up by ₹1,000 a quintal each. Spot prices gained ₹500 to ₹59,000 (ungarbled) and ₹62,000 (garbled). Export prices also moved up to $10,500 a tonne cf for prompt shipment while that for February/March and April shipments were at $9,500 and $9,100 respectively.
