Pepper prices turned hot on Tuesday on non-availability of material. Prices on futures (IPSTA) and spot markets moved up. On the IPSTA platform, some trading took place. On the spot, only eight tonnes of pepper arrived and they were traded. High range pepper was sold at ₹735 a kg, while semi-processed material was sold at ₹730.

Meanwhile, as the weather condition in the North became conducive, demand from the consuming markets has started pouring in. This pushed up prices. Spot prices moved up by ₹500 to ₹72,000 for ungarbled and ₹75,000 (garbled) a quintal. Export prices were at $12,900 (c&f) for Europe and $13,150 a tonne (c&f) for the US.
