Pepper prices showed a steady/firm trend on Tuesday on reports of delay in the coming crop. December and January contracts on the IPSTA platform has gone up following reports of scarcity to be caused by delayed harvesting, market sources told BusinessLine. On the terminal market, 14 tonnes of pepper arrived and that were traded at ₹690-700 a kg. Meanwhile, Karnataka dealers were offering 525 GL pepper at ₹690 and this has resulted in the upcountry slowing down buyingSpot prices were at ₹69,800 (ungarbled) and ₹72,800 (garbled) a quintal. In the international market, Malabar December shipments has been offered at $11,300 a tonne while March was at $9,500.
