Pepper prices slipped on Thursday on selling pressure. Resellers as well as those holding pepper in high ranges were releasing the material, market sources told BusinessLine . They said 50 tonnes of semi-processed pepper were traded directly at ₹690 a kg by resellers. Buyers were majorly the exporters. High range sellers were offering the commodity at ₹695 a kg.
On the terminal market, 35 tonnes were traded at prices ranging from ₹680 a kg to ₹690 a kg, they said. Spot prices fell by ₹400 a quintal to close at ₹68,000 (ungarbled) and ₹71,000 (garbled) a quintal. Indian export prices declined following a fall in prices, coupled with weakening of the rupee against the dollar, to $10,700 a tonne c&f for Europe and $10,950 a tonne c&f for the US.
