Weak arrival and strong buying lifted chana prices on Tuesday to ₹2,950-75 a quintal. Similarly, chana (desi) rose to ₹2,700-50, chana (mausmi) to ₹2,700-3,000, Kabuli Bitki to ₹2,600-2,900, while Kaktu ruled at ₹3,000-3,300 respectively. Given the rise in festival demand for chana dal and besan, decline in domestic stock and dependency on imported chana, the prospects for chana appear bullish in the coming days, said Prakash Vora, a local pulse trader.
Chana dal (average) was being quoted at ₹3,200-50, chana dal (medium) at ₹3,350-3,600, while chana dal (bold) ruled at ₹3,650-3,950 a quintal. Dollar chana ruled firm at ₹5,000-5,200 on subdued buying amid arrival of 6,000-7,000 bags in mandis across Madhya Pradesh. Slack export demand dragged dollar chana in the container by ₹100 in the past one week with dollar chana (42/44 count) at ₹5,925-50, 44/46 count ₹5,725-50, 58/60 count at ₹4,625-50, while dollar chana (60/62 count) ruled at ₹4,525-50 a quintal respectively.
