Spot turmeric prices increased on Wednesday in Erode markets as quality produced arrivedc.

“Traders quoted a higher price of ₹300 a quintal for hybrid finger turmeric and ₹200 for hybrid root variety and purchased all the 170 bags on offer,” said RKV Ravishankar, President, Erode Turmeric Merchants Association.

He said that of the arrival of 3,500 bags, 45 per cent stocks were sold due to non-receipt of fresh upcountry demand. At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association sales yard, the finger turmeric fetched ₹4,100-6,169; the the root variety ₹3,909-5,931.

Salem Hybrid: The finger turmeric was sold at ₹5,704-7,100 and the root variety ₹5,595-6,434. Of the 788 bags on sale, 210 were sold.

At the Regulated Market Committee, the finger turmeric went for ₹5,534-6,327; the root variety ₹5,687-6,389. Of the 635 bags put up on sale, 465 were traded.

At the Erode Cooperative Marketing Society, the finger turmeric was sold at ₹5,310-6,342; the root variety ₹5,361-6,287. All the 712 bags were picked up.

At the Gobichettipalayam Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Society, the finger turmeric ruled at ₹5,360-6,280; the root variety ₹5,243-6,180. All the 158 bags found takers.
