Spot turmeric prices at Erode markets improved a tad as quality turmeric arrived for sale on Friday. Of the 7,500 bags of turmeric (including 300 bags of new turmeric and 300 bags of hybrid turmeric) arrived for sale, 65 per cent of the stocks were sold. The buyers bought hybrid and quality turmeric for their upcountry orders. The price of the hybrid turmeric was up ₹300 a quintal and local varieties by ₹150. At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association, the finger turmeric was sold at ₹8,398-10,459 a quintal and the root variety ₹7,898-9,349. Of the 2,291 bags offered, 1,300 were traded.
