Sugar prices ruled weak at Vashi wholesale market in absence of trading activities due to Anna Saheb Patil Jayanti. Undercurrent of the market was slightly weak on higher selling pressure of mills. Prices were range-bound with ₹5-10 a quintal higher or lower based on quality. Mills sold the commodity at a lesser price — lower by for ₹5-7 — on Saturday evening. New arrivals remained thin. On Saturday evening, 15-16 mills offered tenders and sold about 38,000-40,000 bags at ₹3,550-3,600 (3,550-3,610) for S-grade and ₹3,620-3,700 (3,630-3710) for M-grade. At Vashi nominal spot rates were:S-grade ₹3,675-3,760 and M-grade ₹3,770-3,950. Nominal naka delivery rates were: S-grade ₹3,650-3,740 and M-grade ₹3,730-3,840.
