Sugar prices on the Vashi wholesale market ruled slightly higher on Monday on the back of renewed retail demand amid firm mill tender rates. Naka rates were steady on routine volume. Mill tender rates were higher by ₹10-20 a quintal as fewer mills offered sell tenders higher rates on Saturday evening.
Stockists kept booking new orders need-based as they carry sufficient stocks. Vashi market carries about 115-120 truckloads continuously. Arrivals at Vashi market were higher at 62-63 loads and local dispatches were also at same level. On Saturday, about 11-12 mills offered tenders and sold 44,000-45,000 bags at ₹2,950-3,020 (₹2,930-3,020) for S-grade and ₹3,070-3,180 (₹3,050-3,180) for M-grade.
Bombay Sugar Merchants Association’s spot rates: S-grade ₹3,105-3,202 (₹3,102-3,202) and M-grade ₹3,202-3,382 (₹3,202-3,382). Naka delivery rates: S-grade ₹3,050-3,120 (₹3,050-3,120) and M-grade ₹3,150-3,290 (₹3,150-3,290).
