Sugar prices lost ground as certain mills started selling desperately at heavy discount to ease inventory. Maharashtra’s mills sold the commodity at ₹40-70 a quintal lower previous day evening which pulled down spot and naka rates at Vashi by ₹40-60 respectively. However, arrivals and local dispatches remained at par on festival demand. Arrivals increased to 64-65 truck loads and local dispatches were up at 65-66 loads. The Bombay Sugar Merchants Association’s spot rates:S-grade ₹3,616-3,726 (3,656-3,762) and M-grade ₹3,670-3,842 (3,720-3,872). Naka delivery rates: S-grade ₹3,570-3,650 (3,620-3,700) and M-grade ₹3,650-3,730 (3,710-3,800).
