Pepper prices have fallen sharply over the last year, by ₹19,900 a quintal, following availability of cheap imports, which are being sold in the upcountry markets at ₹500 a kg, market sources told BusinessLine . Spot prices fell by ₹300 a quintal to close at ₹49,800 a quintal (ungarbled) and ₹51,800 a quintal (garbled). June, July and August contracts on the IPSTA remained unchanged at Rs ₹52,000 a quintal each.Indian export prices were at $8,275 a tonne c&f for Europe and $8,525 a tonne c&f for the US.
