Taking weak cues from overseas markets, silver prices fell Rs 79 to Rs 36,078 per kg at the futures trade today, as speculators trimmed their exposure.

On the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in May was trading lower by Rs 79 or 0.22 per cent to Rs 36,078 per kg in a business turnover of 357 lots.

Similarly, the white metal for delivery in far-month July declined by Rs 65 or 0.18 per cent to Rs 36,544 per kg in a business volume of 11 lots.

In the international market, silver fell 0.2 per cent to $16 an ounce in Singapore today.

Traders said the fall in silver prices at the futures trade was largely in line with a weak trend in precious metals in global markets.
