Sugar prices on the Vashi wholesale market ruled steady on Monday as producers continued selling at current prices, while retailer’s demand remained need-based and routine. Naka rates were mixed with ₹10 lower and ₹10 higher based on quality. Producers kept tender prices unchanged, as buying response was lower than expected due to rain in many parts.
Sources said that due to poor buying response from stockists producers continued selling at current prices. Vashi market carries enough stocks since long; hence activities remained routine. Freight rates were unchanged. Producers kept tender open. Arrivals at Vashi market declined to 61-62 truckloads and local offtake was 59-60 loads. On Saturday evening, 17-18 mills offered tenders and sold 44,000-45,000 bags at ₹2,900-3,000 (₹2,900-3,000) for S-grade and ₹3,000-3,150 (₹3,000-3,150) for M-grade.
Bombay Sugar Merchants Association’s spot rates: S-grade ₹3,023-3,162 (₹3,022-3,162) and M-grade was ₹3,152-3,292 (₹3,152-3,311). Naka delivery rates: S-grade ₹2,980-3,050 (₹2,980-3,050) and M-grade ₹3,100-3,200 (₹3,090-3,200).
