Turmeric prices gained in Erode markets on Wednesday, following a 2.5 per cent rise in the futures market. Demand from upcountry and for Diwali also helped the yellow spice to rise further.

“Traders in Erode have received some upcountry demand, so traders procured a good number of bags. On Diwali eve, some traders in North India have placed orders for quality turmeric,” said RKV Ravishankar, President, Erode Turmeric Merchants Association.
