Spot turmeric decreased by ₹150-500 a quintal at Erode markets on inferior quality arrivals. “Only medium and poor quality turmeric was arrived for sale, so the price of the finger variety decreased by ₹500 a quintal and that of the root variety by ₹600. Of the arrival of 5,300 bags, including 1,900 bags of new turmeric, sixty per cent stocks were sold. All the new turmeric was sold for ₹9,200-9,700 a quintal,” said RKV Ravishankar, President, Erode Turmeric Merchants Association. At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association, the finger turmeric went for ₹8,339-9,666 a quintal; the root variety ₹7,369-9,099. Of the 2,186 bags offered,1,210 were sold.
