The uptrend in chana continued in Indore mandis on slack arrival as stockists and traders are building inventories on projections of a lower crop this year.
Amid lower arrivals and higher demand from millers, chana prices in the past one week have gone up by almost ₹200 a quintal with chana (kanta) being quoted at ₹3,900-25, while chana (desi) rose to ₹3,750
Given the lower output and damage to the crop, the rally in chana will continue in the coming days, said Prakash Vora, a local chana trader. .
Chana dal (average) fetched ₹4,500-4,600, chana dal (medium) ₹4,800-4,900, while chana dal (bold) ruled at ₹5,100-5,300. Dollar chana ruled stable on slack domestic and export demand.
On Tuesday, dollar chana in Indore mandis ruled at ₹4,800-5,000 (up ₹100 from last week).
According to trade sources here, dollar may see a rally once export demand in dollar chana picks up by the end of this month.
In container, dollar chana 42/44 count went for ₹5,525-50; 44/46 count at ₹5,325-50; 48/50 count at ₹5,175-5,200; 58/60 count ₹4,575-4,600, while dollar chana (60/62 count) ruled at ₹4,475-4,500 a quintal respectively.
