Sugar prices on the Vashi wholesale market ruled steady trend with prices gaining ₹10-₹20 on Monday for fine variety. Naka rates were down by ₹15-₹20. But mill rates continued to rule firm as producers sold the commodity by ₹30-₹40 higher than the previous day evening. Activities remained limited in spot on less than expected retail demand, said sources.Arrivals at Vashi were around 60-62 truckloads (100 bags each) and the local dispatches were 58- 60 loads. On Saturday evening, 17–18 mills offered tenders and sold about 48,000–50,000 bags at ₹3,140-3,250 (₹3,100-₹3,200) for S-grade and ₹3,280-₹3,400 (₹3,250-₹3,370) for M-grade.
The Bombay Sugar Merchants Association's spot rates were: S-grade ₹3,212-₹3,402 (₹3,222-₹3,352) and M-grade was ₹3,340- ₹3,552 (₹3,342-₹3,512). Naka delivery rates were: S-grade ₹3,120-₹3,200 (₹3,145-₹3,220) and M-grade ₹3,200-₹3,370 (₹3,200–₹3,400).
