Sugar prices on the Vashi wholesale market ruled steady on Monday on routine arrivals and trading. On the spot, lack of demand for fine-bold variety pulled down prices by ₹10-20 a quintal on the higher side. Naka prices gained by ₹10-20 as new stocks were sold at a premium. Mill tender rates were unchanged as producers continued to keep their sale offer open. Arrivals continued to be at 61-62 truckloads, while local dispatches were 60-61 loads. On Saturday, about 23-24 mills offered tenders and sold 48,000-50,000 bags at ₹2,550-2,660 (₹2,550-2,660) for S-grade and ₹2,640-2,780 (₹2,640-2,780) for M-grade.
The Bombay Sugar Merchants Association’s spot rates: S-grade ₹2,676-2,872 (₹2,676-2,882) and M-grade ₹2,812-2,966 (₹2,812-3,005). Naka delivery rates: S-grade ₹2,640-2,750 (₹2,630-2,730) and M-grade ₹2,750-2,900 (₹2,720-2,900).
