The arrival of turmeric for sale in Erode markets increased on Thursday. “Though the arrival increased to 6,500 bags, the price of the spice was stable. Further, the buyers procured 65 per cent stock for their few orders received from North India and also for local firms. All the 350 bags of local hybrid turmeric varieties were sold. No stockists purchased the turmeric,” said RKV Ravishankar, President, Erode Turmeric Merchants Association. Best quality finger turmeric traded up by ₹50-100 a quintal. At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association, the finger turmeric was sold at ₹7,491-9,266 a quintal; the root variety ₹7,134-8,320. Of the arrival of 1,364 bags, 737 were sold.
