Spot turmeric prices increased on Wednesday. “The price of the turmeric improved due to quality and also the arrival has touched 7,000 bags. All the 2,500 bags of new turmeric were sold for higher price. The buyers procured the same for their local supply. Good quality of Erode hybrid and other local varieties were arrived for sale and the buyers procured 60 per cent of the stock,” said RKV Ravishankar, President, Erode Turmeric Merchants Association. At the Erode Turmeric Merchants Association, the finger turmeric went for ₹7,636-9,869 a quintal and the root variety at ₹7,284-9,289. Of the total arrival of 2,673 bags, 1,420 were sold.
